Aruba – Oranjestad: The Old Fisherman

On our 8th day of our 2018 Holiday Cruise on the Serenade of the Seas, our stopped was in, Oranjestad, Aruba. This was my first time visiting. We took a cab for a tour around the island. Our taxi driver was very friendly, our tour lasted about 3 hours. We made several stops to take pictures of various landmarks. Our cab driver recommended us to The Old Fisherman restaurant which was also a recommended location from our cruise guide.

We were on Aruba until 1 am, which was our longest stop. That was also New Year’s Eve. We went to The Old Fisherman for lunch and went back on the ship and because the food was so good we went back again for dinner. We made reservations for dinner because they told us that for New Year’s Eve dinner is reservation only, so when we were leaving we made the reservation.

The food was very good. It was very delicious. I am a big food critic, so when I taste good food, you can bet 100% that it is good. The seasonings are perfect…….. the texture is perfect……the presentation is perfect and ….the temperature is perfect. For an appetizer, I ordered fish cakes priced at $10.00 for drinks I had fresh lemonade. For the main course, during our both visits I had Claudio Wolf- Whole Red Snapper (Grilled) this was at market price. This grilled snapper was perfectly seasoned. My other meal was Jovito Tromp -Mix seafood Sauteed priced at $25. This was fish, shrimp, mussels, & calamari prepared in garlic & white wine for the side it came with fried plantain, seasoned rice, and fries. In my order, I skipped the fries and kept the seasoned rice. Jade had the Linguini Chicken in Marinara sauce priced at $20.

While this food was not cheap, but it was very delicious. It is a must-visit anytime you are in Aruba. I give it 5 stars for taste and ambiance.
