Arnica appears to possess anti-inflammatory properties. In fact, researchers suggest that in topical gel form, arnica can relieve osteoarthritis pains as effective as anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen.
Arnica can be found in tinctures, creams, gels, and oils at most health food stores and pharmacies.
Try it in s compress: Dip gauze into a tablespoon of tincture mixed with a pint of purified water, then place on the aching joint. Never apply arnica on an open wound; your risk absorbing a toxic dose. Always stop using arnica if a rash develops.
I use arnica gel and it relieves my pain, after reading this article from Dr. Andrew Weil I just had to share.
