Next time you are grocery shopping, the most important thing to do is:

Read the labels before adding the products to your grocery cart

Here is what to look for :

1. Make sure you know all ingredients that are listed

2. If you cannot pronounce an ingredient name, don’t buy it!

3. The lesser ingredients, the better

The top five ingredients that I never purchase along with the associated health problems are listed below:

1. “Trans fat” also listed as “partially hydrogenated oil”: Raises blood sugar, heart attacks

2. “Natural flavor” and “artificial flavor”: Alzheimer, Parkinson, obesity, migraine, fatigue, depression

3. Yellow #5, Yellow #6, Red#3, Red#40, Blue #1, Blue#2: hyperactivity in children, asthma, allergies, skin issues

4. Carrageenan:  Gastrointestinal problems, irritable bowel syndrome, colon cancer

5. Monosodium Glutamate (MSG): skin rashes, itching, nausea, vomiting, headaches, asthma, depression, seizures
